Inter Tourism Expo 2021 organizes media tour

Organizers of Inter Tourism Expo, Accra on September 17, 2021 organized a fun trip to Shai Hills Resource Reserve for journalists and protocol team as part of preparations for this year event scheduled for September 28 to 30 ,2021.

Shai Hills Resource Reserve is a resource reserve located in Doryumu in the Shai Osudoku District all in the Greater Accra Region. It was established in 1962 with area of 47 square kilometres which was later extended to 51 square kilometres in 1973.

It was all fun and excitement when the bus left the Accra Tourism Centre on Friday for fun trip. The Journey was about an hour drive to the Forestry reserve.

Interaction the Chief Executive officer of the Inter Tourism Expo Accra, Mr. Emmanuel Treko, elaborated for tourisms to be a significant boost, journalists must be abreast with the sector in order to get tourists attracted to tourist sites in Ghana, he said.

“Tourism is PR, the media is one key component that you cannot live without, we have had this even where we’ve not really had time with the media, we only have the event and then we call them to do a coverage of the event but we feel as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Expo we have to go out there to experience what they are doing as a team, as a media house then they can give a better account of what we are doing”

Mr.Treko noted  that, his goal  is to see tourism in Ghana grow and improve so that the sector becomes a go-to choice for people coming to visit. To achieve this, he wants to formally educate journalists towards becoming writers who will provide useful information about tourist sites, products and accommodations.

He admonished Journalists to paint a good picture of our tourist sites in order to attract foreigners.

Mr. Treko also plans on using this gathering as an opportunity to help build relationships among the public and private sector partners by creating more content which will be shared ahead of the Expo.

He believes that, the expo will create a strong bond between tourist companies and news reporters so they can get better advertising for Ghana tourism. As for Ghanaians, what we can do is support domestic tourism by visiting our beautiful villages and communities as often as possible! Even if you don’t have any specific places or attractions in mind, it doesn’t hurt to just take some time out of your day to stroll around your neighborhood.
