The Ghana Association of Writers Literary Awards, that seeks to honor literary works of amazing Ghanaian writers and Literary Excellence, took place at the Omanye Aba Hall, AMA Auditorium – Accra.
This year’s event celebrated writers within 8 literary categories with 21 deserving entries selected and examined by well-seasoned experienced assessors for the 5th Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) Literary Awards.
The prestigious literary awards was first held in August 1987, thirty years after the founding of GAW, under the leadership of Professor Atukwei Okai. The Awards was created to celebrate, inspire and promote Ghanaian literary talent, as GAW believes that literature plays a critical role in the development of a nation. Since its establishment in 1987, the GAW Literary Awards has grown to become the largest literary awards in the country.
The event was hosted by Korku Lumor, with support and partnership from Ghana Tourism Authority, Nuclear Power Ghana, Xperience Ghana and Ronel Agency. In attendance was the CEO of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Mr. Senyo Hosi as the Keynote Speaker. Other Special Guests were Kojo Mattah, Ms. Odolina Roussinov and Mr. Thomas Musah.
